We sometimes forget the very existence of this nation resulted from and depends upon the members of our military. I spent most of the past 20+ years working with military personnel and their dependents on GTMO; Norfolk, NB; Little Creek, NAB; Oceana, NAS; Ft. Eustice; Chesapeake, CGS; Langley, AFB, and at a host of other installations worldwide through the WEB. The dedication, compassion, and courage demonstrated by these people deserve our respect, and our sincere admiration.

Lifelong civilian I am, I am grateful for my father's service, those years taken from his life for such an important purpose. He had a role in defeating Hitler, doing sheet metal work on B-17 bombers on an English base — Hollywood made no movies about him, but when planes came in shot up, someone had to fix them.

My Dad was an immigrant from Hungary who became a citizen during WW II and fought at Normandy. He fought for the country that gave him and my Mom sanctuary from the Holocaust and I think of him and my Mom (who didn't see him for almost 3 yrs while he was in Europe fighting) and the sacrifice both my Mom and Dad made. I have great love and respect for my parents and all our soldiers and families past and present.
